Derwenthorpe Aglow!

Derwenthorpe Aglow began in the autumn of 2019 with a half term workshop where we learned how to make a ‘stained glass window’ from card and tissue paper. After a very creative and fun afternoon decorating the windows of the Energy Centre, families took home materials and ideas for  their own special window at home. These were displayed during December in 29 homes across Derwenthorpe making a bright and colourful trail, including the Energy Centre which lit up the cycle path with its own gorgeous window display.

Many people enjoyed making and viewing these imaginative windows, as they brightened up the dark winter months. Many pledged to make bigger and better ones next year!

A few of last year’s creations can be seen below. Details of how to get involved in this year’s Aglow event are at the bottom of the page.

I don’t know if this will be read or if I am posting correctly.I just want to say how wonderful and colourful the aglow windows around Derwenthorpe estate are.I am retired and live alone in sheltered housing and will be on my own at Christmas also. Each evening I have been walking my old doggie round the estate and the bright windows so creative have really lifted my spirits.Well done on a great idea and Thank you.
