If you’ve been unfortunate enough to lose work recently, you might be interested in this from City of York council. They’re looking for drivers and loaders for their waste services team. I hope they can get them: otherwise people will miss bin and recycling collections. It could get quite messy!
As well as our local team offering help, the following organisations already have trusted volunteers offering help and support. They’re also taking on new volunteers, and looking for donations:
York Neighbours – Help for over 65s with shopping and practical one-off jobs.

AGE UK York – offer essential services such as “our shopping service, extending our telephone information line hours and hospital transport provision.”

We’ve had this message from JRHT:
After much consideration and taking into consideration the current government guidance, JRHT have taken the difficult decision to close the Super Sustainable Centre as of 1pm today.
The centre will not be available for use or any new bookings. JRHT will continue to review this position and we hope to open up the centre in the very near future.Joanne Lofthouse, email 18 March 2020
Well, not quite, but you’ll understand that most group activities are suspended. We’ll be thinking about whether we can move some on-line, and we’re also thinking about other ways that we can support people through the Covid 19 crisis.
